Aqiqah is a culturally significant tradition in Islam. It involves the slaughter of a livestock animal such as a lamb, sheep or goat, to celebrate a baby’s birth. The meat from the sacrificed animal is then cooked and shared amongst family, friends and members of the community that are in need.

Aqiqah is the perfect opportunity for the Islamic community to come together and unite over the celebration of life.

Islam requires two comparable animals to be sacrificed for a boy and one for a girl.
